What is an expert witness?
An expert witness in care, rehabilitation, and occupational therapy provides independent, evidence‑based reports for medico‑legal cases. Suitable professionals are experienced clinicians with strong analytical skills and the ability to present their reasoning clearly and objectively.
The role involves assessing clients, reviewing clinical records, and producing impartial reports to support the court in understanding complex care and rehabilitation needs. The market includes personal injury, clinical negligence, and catastrophic injury cases.
To succeed, practitioners need robust clinical experience, excellent written communication, attention to detail, and the confidence to justify their opinion in a legal context.
