Associate Care & Rehabilitation Expert

  • Nationwide medico-legal instructions for claimants and defendants.  You will have the flexibility to manage your own caseload.

  • Access to a broad and varied CPD programme, as well as internal documents and resources to aid you in report writing and throughout the litigation process.

  • Mentoring and supervision from a supervisor with over 20 years’ clinical experience.

  • Access to 9 am to 5 pm administrative support from an employed office-based team.  In addition to this, there is a separate report quality assurance team who check and comb through your reports twice!

  • We offer a competitive hourly rate that progresses in line with your clinical expertise.

 

If you are an occupational therapist (with at least eight years’ postgraduate experience) and undertake case management work as part of your clinical practice and feel that you can demonstrate the following:

 

Professional Skills

  • Experience of working with clients who have sustained catastrophic life changing injuries.

  • Designing and managing care packages (ideally, as a case manager).

  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Organising and arranging equipment assessments.

 

Key Competencies

  • Decisive, with the ability to evidence reasoning for your decisions.

  • Pro-active, flexible, and be able to meet or exceed expected deadlines.

  • Professional and assertive in order to robustly counter contrary and differing opinions throughout the litigation process.

  • Confident communicator, with the ability to build up rapport with families, colleagues, and other professionals.

  • Possess a high-level of attention to detail adopting a methodical and thorough approach to all assessments and reports undertaken.

Proofreader

Purpose of the Role 

You will have incredible attention to detail. This role involves proofreading medico-legal expert witness reports which are presented as evidence in litigation proceedings for high-value medical negligence and personal injury claims. 

This role would suit someone with an excellent command of the English language who enjoys checking documentation from a quality assurance viewpoint and who is looking for full training and support to develop their career pathway as a proofreader. 

Key Responsibilities 

Your role will involve proofreading legal documents and you will be proficient at: 

  • Detecting formatting and compositional errors. 

  • Changing formatting to meet house style guidance. 

  • Complete sense, grammar and consistency read throughs of care and rehabilitation expert witness reports for complex, high value claims. 

  • Calculating, using in-house spreadsheets, the costs of past and future care. 

  • Handling sensitive and confidential documents and information. 

  • Working with MS Word at an advanced level and MS Excel (although additional training can be provided). 

  • Proofreading various other types of documents including case management reports, marketing material. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to providing support/cover for the Medico-legal Administrator and minute-taking of therapy multi-disciplinary team meetings. 
     

Requirements 

  • Previous experience working within the medico-legal and rehabilitation sector or legal environment would be advantageous but not essential, as a full training programme will be delivered in-house. 

  • Ideally 1 years’ experience in proofreading. 

  • Degree in a relevant subject such as English language, English literature, creative writing, or law. 

  • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills, with a sound knowledge of grammar and spelling. 

  • Strong attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality. 

  • Confident IT user particularly with Microsoft Word and Excel. 

  • GCSE in Mathematics Grade B or above (or equivalent).  
     

Hours of work: 30 to 37.5 hours 

Pay £25,000 pro rota
