Sherwood Therapy Services are able to provide multi-skilled and experienced occupational therapists who are able to work with individuals of all ages who have physical disabilities, learning disabilities and mental health needs. We work as a team and are able to use each other's experience and expertise when required. We have numerous contacts and resources we can draw upon for the benefit of the person we are working with.

Sherwood Therapy Services are also able to provide sensory integration therapy, known as SI.  We support children and young people with sensory needs that prevent self regulation, planning and organisation and learning new motor skills.  Our therapists are trained by the Sensory Integration Network.

Clinical governance is central to our practice. This ensures the person we work with is central to all decision making and intervention; our practice is evidence based and effective; our work is audited and we undertake frequent supervision, training and continuing professional development (CPD): we carefully consider risk management within our practice in a positive and proactive way.

Kyle started working with Sheena in July 2015. She is bubbly and enthusiastic, and has had a very positive effect in  motivating him. She assessed what he could and couldn’t do, but also what he wanted to do. She has helped him to gain access into the community, through trips to the shops, going to restaurants and going on public transport into town. She has also encouraged him to do the things he loves, like cooking. To make all this possible for him she has given advice and  guidance – in particular on available equipment, such as a bed and chair. Kyle also has a double bannister, a perching bench and a lightweight, power-assisted wheelchair – all of which help him to get on with everyday life. She has opened doors for him and his independence has grown.

“She’s a big help – I’d still be sat in bed if it wasn’t for her.”

The feedback from staff is that Maxine is highly professional, knowledgeable, friendly and most importantly has made a massive difference to the wellbeing of some of our service users.
